My big project for the year is myself

In the spirit of Mental Health Awareness Month and a recent birthday, I wanted to share my project of the year: Me. You read right; MYSELF

Project Me: My Big Project This Year is Myself

In the spirit of Mental Health Awareness Month and the personal milestone of a recent birthday, I’m officially launching my biggest, boldest, and most important project to date: Me.

Yes, you read that right—Project Me is in full effect.

For years, I’ve poured time, energy, and heart into everything around me—work, relationships, obligations, and expectations. I’ve met deadlines, kept commitments, and showed up for others, often without stopping to ask if I was showing up for myself. Somewhere in the hustle, I lost track of me.

So this year, I’m turning inward. Not as an afterthought, but as a priority. Project Me isn’t about becoming someone else—it’s about returning to myself, on purpose.

Why Now?

My birthday reminded me that I’m not getting younger, but I can get clearer, healthier, and more grounded. And with May being Mental Health Awareness Month, I wanted to be open about something many of us overlook:

Sometimes the most important work we’ll ever do is on ourselves.

Not because we’re broken. But because we deserve the care, curiosity, and courage we so often extend to others.

What Project Me Looks Like

This isn’t a glow-up story. It’s not a 30-day challenge. This is an ongoing commitment to honoring myself—mind, body, and soul. Here’s what that looks like for me:

1. Prioritizing Mental & Emotional Wellness

I’m committing to therapy, journaling, and emotional check-ins. No more pushing feelings aside or "toughing it out." Healing isn’t weakness—it’s strength.

2. Rest and Boundaries

I’m learning to say "no" without apology, and to rest without guilt. Productivity is not my worth. Peace is.

3. Reconnecting with Joy

Whether it’s painting, walking in nature, or laughing until my stomach hurts—I’m finding my way back to joy. Not because life is perfect, but because I deserve to feel alive in it.

4. Moving My Body with Love

No more punishing workouts or restrictive mindsets. I’m listening to what my body needs, moving with intention, and treating it with respect.

5. Letting Go of Perfection

Growth isn’t linear. I won’t always get it right. But I’m learning to celebrate small wins and progress over perfection.

An Invitation to You

If you’ve been feeling the pull to slow down, take stock, or turn inward, take this as your invitation: You don’t have to wait for burnout, crisis, or the “right time.” Start now. Start small. Start with you.

You are not a side project. You are the main event.

Here’s to the year of Project Me—because I’m worth the effort, and so are you.
